The chapter starts out by Esperanza talks about telling stories and masking stories. She then says she makes a story about her life, how she "trudged up the wooden stairs, her ugly brown shoes talking to the house she never liked." she then starts to re-tell the beginning of the book, which is a little annoying, because it is strange. she ends the book by saying she will one day leave Mango street, only to come back "for the ones I left behind. for the ones who cannot out."

she wants to return a succsessfull woman. she wants to make a life of wealth and happiness outside of mango street. she wants to come back and visit. not to come back and live there.

Esperanza might want to return to her neighborhood that she grew up in even though she doesn't like it very much because she grew up there and good or bad memories were made there.
I think Esperanza might want to return to the house on mango street because even though she looked down on it, there may have been some good memories. She probably also wants to return to it with a very successful career and may want to fix it up or improve on it.
because of all the memories that she had at that house- mitch taylor
