She pays Esperanza and others to go to the store and buy her drinks, usually coconut or papaya juice. Rafaela wishes to be with some one else and to be a free woman.

Maybe she doesn't want to ecscape because she is scared of her husband and what he would do to her if he found out.
Because her husband is over potective and possibly abusive and she could get hurt if she had tried to escape from the house or she worries that she can't live on her own.
