Esperanza's grandpa (abuelito) died in this chapter.the entire chapter is atalking about, and explaining how her father has to wake up early to go catch a plane to mexico to meet the uncles and aunts. She says that she has never seen her father cry. She says that she just holds him, and doesnt know what she would do without him.

I think that they went to mexico because it was more important to them to visit there family than to save for a house. Esperanzas dad was really sad that his dad died.

Because they don't have a relaionship with the house, or any house they will ever have. But for family we will do most anything, and the could include buying a plane ticket to mexico, instead of saving money for a house.
